Stonehenge and Salisbury - 1 day

Travelling through the chalk downland hills of Wiltshire we first visit Stonehenge, probably the most famous standing stone circle in the world, an awe inspiring Neolithic monument that is justifiably a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the country's most popular destinations. Its history goes back over 5,000 years, built and rebuilt over successive centuries and revered from the ancient Druids to modern tourists, your guide will reveal the facts and theories and leave you to admire its powerful presence.

We enjoy priority entrance to the site and have audio tours in several languages on offer plus time to explore the gift shop for souvenirs.

We then move on to the nearby city of Salisbury, one of England's richest places throughout the 16th and 17th centuries, featuring a wealth of beautiful architecture and boasting one of the most impressive cathedrals in the country. Although established 800 years ago, Salisbury is relatively new, the community having been moved by the local Bishop, from the windy ancient hillfort of Old Sarum that lies high above the town.

Your guided walking tour will take you through the medieval streets, past the merchants houses, waterside mills and Poultry Cross to the precincts of the cathedral, built from 1220 to 1258 in a uniform style of Early English Gothic and featuring England's tallest spire at 404ft rising up above the water meadows surrounding the city, an impressive height even if the foundations remain some of the shallowest!! Another attraction is a 1215 copy of England's only major constitution, Magna Carta.

Once you have concluded this eye-opening tour there will be plenty of time to explore many of the other attractions and museums of this beautiful city.

Viajando através das colinas de  Wiltshire faremos nossa primeira visita, Stonehenge. Provavelmente a mais famosa do mundo, pedras posicionadas verticamente na fomação de um círculo, um monumento  Neolítico, tombada como Patrimônio Mundial pela UNESCO e um dos lugares turísticos mais popular do páis. Sua história remonta mais de 5.000 anos, construído e reconstruído sucessivamente durante séculos dos antigos e irreverentes. Dos druídas aos tempos modernos, nosso guia irá nos revelar os fatos e teorias, é inevitável a admiração e sua poderosa presença.

Então iremos até a cidade vizinha, cidade de Salisbury, um dos lugares mais ricos da Inglaterra  durante os séculos XVI e XVII,  com uma rica beleza arquitetônica e ostenta uma das mais impressionates catedrais no país. Embora estabelecida a 800 anos atrás, Salisbury é relativamente nova,  a comunidade tem  sido movido pelo bispo local, desde do antigo moinho de vento de Old Sarum que se localiza na subida ao topo da cidade.

Em nossa caminhada o nosso guia nos levará através das ruas medievias, casas dos mercadores do passado, orla e fábricas, Poultry Cross nas proximidades da catedral, construída a partir de 1220 à 1258 um modelo de estilo Gótico Inglês e apresentando o mais alto pináculo da Inglaterra, 404ft acima da água que circula a cidade. Outra atração é a cópia da grande constituição da Inglaterra de 1.215, a Carta Magna 'Magna Carta'.

Uma vez  que você tiver concluído esta abertura  de nossa tour, haverá muito tempo para explorar muitos dos museus e outras atrações desta  linda cidade.
