Stonehenge & Windsor - 1 day

Overview      
Stonehenge is a World Heritage Site.The stone circle was built almost 5000 years ago and is the oldest monument in Europe. Learn about Neolithic cultures and marvel at what scientists believe to be the Early Britons' most important temple.  Windsor Castle is an official residence of The Queen. It contains a royal palace with wonderful State Apartments, used for banquets and ceremonies, and a magnificent chapel housing the tombs of ten monarchs of England.

  • Eton College, attended by Princes William and Harry

Plan for the day      
On arrival, your guide will introduce you to the history and beauty of Windsor on a guided tour of the town. You will have free time to explore the Castle - entry fee not included in tour price. Alternatively, take a stroll out into Windsor Great Park for great views of the Castle, wander the narrow shopping streets of Windsor town or cross over the River Thames bridge to sample British upper class society at famous Eton College. Back to Cambridge early evening.

Plan for the day       
We leave Cambridge at 08:00 for Stonehenge. On arrival, your guide will explain the history and understanding of Stonehenge. You will have over an hour at the stones. Take the audio tour (available in several languages) to hear more about the site. We depart for Windsor at 12:30 to arrive at 13:30. Join you driver-guide for a walking tour of the town. Free time to enter the castle should you wish. We leave Windsor late in the afternoon to arrive back in Cambridge at 20:00.
