Windsor and Hampton Court - 1 day

Hampton CourtOur first stop on this tour is the historic . This beautiful building, situated on the banks of the River Thames, was created for Cardinal Wolsey, taken over by Henry VIII and became the favourite home to many royals who proceeded to enlarge it, lay out the fantastic gardens and build its famous maze (entrance included).

After exploring Hampton Court you will then travel to Windsor, home of the largest inhabited castle in the world (entrance not included). Your guide will walk you around the historic heart of Windsor town explaining the history of the castle and showing other famous landmarks including the home of Nell Gwynne, favourite mistress of Charles II, Windsor Guildhall (scene of the civil marriage of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles), the impressive St John the Baptist Church and the great view down the Long Walk which takes the Queen every year through Windsor Great Park to Royal Ascot.

Windsor CastleIn addition, an optional walk with your guide will take you over the River Thames to Eton High Street and a glimpse of the world famous Eton College, founded in 1440, and the seat of learning for both Princes William and Harry.

During your free time you will have the chance to explore inside the castle, take a late lunch and do some gift shopping (Windsor has a higher concentration of gift shops than even London!!).
