Brexit: Travel to the UK explained

We appreciate that at the moment, many of our customers will have some concerns about travel to the UK in the light of Brexit.

We'd like to keep you fully informed about the ongoing negotiations around travel arrangements to the UK. We will continue to welcome all of our clients to the UK, and here at International Friends HQ, it is very much a case of ‘business as usual.’

Although there is some negative media coverage around the subject, we would just like to remind all of our customers of what currently know regarding travel to the UK as of the 14th May 2019.

  • There is no indication that travel to the UK will be immediately affected when the United Kingdom leaves the European Union. If the UK leave the EU without a deal, what you'll need to enter the UK will not change until at least 2021.
  • What you need to show at the UK border will not change, even if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.
  • Using your mobile phone in the UK: You’ll pay the same for calls, texts and mobile data in the UK and the EU if both of the following apply:
    • the UK leaves the EU with a deal
    • you have a SIM card issued by a mobile phone network from an EU or EEA country
  • If the UK leaves without a deal, or you have a SIM issues by a mobile network outside of the EU, how much you'll pay will depend on your network.
  • The UK government and the European Commission have stated that flights, ferries and Eurostar services will continue to operate between the UK and the EU. The draft regulation is intended to apply until the end of March 2020 (or sooner if alternative arrangements are put into place).
  • Flights between the US and the UK will remain unaffected
  • Those with a valid biometric passport will be able to continue to use the electronic gates (PARAFE) for quick entry into the UK.

Please bear in mind that this is the most up to date information that we have, and we can only pass on the information that we have access to. We can't guarantee that this won't change, so we would always recommend checking directly with your service providers if you have any questions, queries or concerns.

If we receive any further information about changes impacting visits to the UK, we will be sure to update this page!
