Your rep will arrange a meeting time later in the day for the group, where they will point out the best places to pick up something to eat, and then it’s onto the bars for the evening! While away the evening with your new friends, sampling some of the local drinks on offer along the Royal Mile, and maybe hitting one or two of the bars in the famous Grassmarket or Cowgate area as the evening goes on. Alternatively, you have the option of a Ghost & Ghouls Walking tour, which will take you around some of the Edinburgh’s most haunted alleys, buildings and narrow backstreets.
After breakfast at your guest house, you have a free day for sightseeing in Edinburgh. Explore the city a little more, head to the Royal Palace of Holyrood House, visit some of the many free museums, art galleries, gift shops, or any one of the many attractions the city has to offer. Rich in history, you’ll never be far from something interesting - Edinburgh is packed with fantastic things to see.
Alternatively, if you’ve always dreamed of seeing the majestic mountains and Lochs that Scotland is so famous for, join us on this day trip to the Highlands! Travelling by executive coach, this day trip from Edinburgh is simply stunning. We will take you through the centre of Braveheart Country, where you will see Ben Nevis, Urquhart Castle, Linlithgow Palace, drive through the stunning Cairngorms National Park, more Lochs than you can count, and see Highland Cattle and wild deer grazing amongst the scenery. A trip to the Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle is included in your tour price, which will give you time to explore a ruin that’s over 1,000 years old, and a cruise along the Loch Ness. With many photo stops and time to take in the scenery, this day trip is definitely a must for any weekend in Edinburgh.
On the final day of our city break, we will take a leisurely guided walk up to Calton Hill to visit the Scott Monument, and enjoy the views across Edinburgh. Then we will walk to Edinburgh Castle and the National Museum of Scotland. Shortly after this, you have the option to join the tour to the Whisky distillery, where you can learn how this drink is created, and sample some for yourself!
