Edinburgh is approximately 4 hours away by high speed train from London. This tour gives you the chance to see Scotland's capital and even the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness - all rolled into one, outstanding weekend. We promise you will not be disappointed.
Day One
We travel north departing from London King Cross station to arrive in Scotland's capital, Edinburgh by approximately 11.15am.
On arrival in Edinburgh the day begins with a fully guided, panoramic coach tour of the city with your guide. Discover the adventure and misfortune of Scotland's tragic queen, Mary Queen of Scots, as we start our tour at Holyrood Palace. This 900 year old palace was built on orders of King David after an encounter with mythical white Stag, and remains today as the official residence of the British monarchy in Scotland. After a brief stop at the Palace it's on to one of Edinburgh's Highest points in Holyrood Park, where you can take in the spectacular view, before continuing our tourof the "Old Town". The tour will include some of the cities most famous landmarks including Edinburgh Castle, the National Museum of Scotland, Grassmarket, Greyfriars Bobby and the Elephant House coffee house, where J.K. Rowling First penned Harry Potter.
You may wish to join us for some casual drinks close to your hotel in the evening - we promise you will enjoy our evenings just as much as the sightseeing! Our tours are a great way of meeting people from all over the world.
Optional Ghosts & Gouls evening tour - 8pm - A spine tingling evening with ghoulish tales of torture and witchcraft, as you learn of Edinburgh's ghostly past! The guided tour takes place in medieval closes, narrow diumly lit backstreets, and the haunted Blair Street Underground vaults.
Day Two
If you choose to upgrade to our Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness tour, prepare to see amazing scenery, learn about Scotlands brutal and bloody history and hear of ancient clan rivalries. Sit back and relax as we take you on a full day tour of Scotland's wild and rugged landscape, leaving city life far behind as we head into the mountains and glens! This once in a lifetime trip includes entry to the stunning Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness, as well as a cruise along the Loch - your chance to spot Nessie!
If you choose not to upgrade, the day is yours to continue exploring Edinburgh at your own leisure.
Day Three
Your third day in Edinburgh is a day spent at your leisure, or if you wish to learn more about Scotland, you can choose our optional upgrade and include a Whisky Tasting tour
Whisky Tasting Tour- £22 - (over 18's only)
A tour of Glenkinchie whisky distillery, the closest to Edinburgh. After experiencing the detailed and highly skilled process of making a bottle of 'Scotch', you will have the chance to sample some of the whiskies made here.
Day Four
Make sure you get the most out of the fantastic Scottish capital before we return to England. Edinburgh is a city full of museums, galleries, traditional gift shops, Castles, cathedrals and more. Mid afternoon, the coach will collect you from your accommodation and transfer you to the train station for our return journey to London.
We offer two types of accommodation for this tour, catering for differing budgets and preferences. Breakfast is included in all options.
Included as standard - Caravel Guest House
The basic price of this tour includes 3-5 bedded ensuite accommodation, sharing with other members of the tour (same sex). These rooms are exceptionally good value for money with a short walking distance to the city centre. Great for single travellers who do not want to pay for single room upgrades, and a great way to meet your fellow travellers.
- Shared Accommodation
If you do not select one of upgrade options below, you will automatically be placed in a room with customers of the same gender in Caravel Guest House. - Single, Twin or Double Accommodation Upgrade
You can choose to upgrade from the shared accommodation to either a single room for a £35 per night supplement, or a twin/double room for a £20 per night supplement
3 Star Upgrade - Ecosse International
This is a traditionally family run guest house, which offers fantastic service and a great location. All rooms have private bathrooms are decorated to a high standard. This guest house has a lounge and free wifi.
- 3 star twin/Double Accommodation
You can choose to upgrade your accommodation to one of the Ecosse International's twin or double rooms for an additional £40 per night - 3 star Single Accommodation
At the Essosse we also offer a single supplement upgrade option, where you can book a single room for an additional £70 per night.
To avoid disappointment, all accommodation upgrades should be added at the time of booking.
During peak season, other accommodation of equivalent standard may also be used, including university halls and quality hostels. We also have 4* and 5* accommodation options available on request, please contact us and we will be happy to provide you with a price.

Can we extend our stay in Edinburgh so we can see other parts of Scotland?
Of course you can, although, since our train journeys are specifically allocated on certain trains at certain times, your ongoing journey from Edinburgh/Scotland, will be at your own expense & no discount will be provided for the unused return ticket.
Do you need a visa to travel to Scotland from England?
No, Scotland is still part of United Kingdom and there is no border control
How long is the train journey between London and Edinburgh?
Train journey from London Euston Station takes approx. 5.5 hours each way
Does the tour include any food?
We include breakfast at the accommodation we provide in central Edinburgh, we do not include lunch or dinner. There are many eateries within walking distance from your accommodation.
Can I take a different train from Edinburgh to London?
Not with our train tickets; all our train tickets are for specific trains at the exact times we have booked, therefore, if you wish to travel on a later or earlier train going back to London, you will need to purchase your own tickets.
Is Edinburgh Castle ticket included?
No, we do not include Edinburgh castle tickets.
How much free time do I get in Edinburgh?
You are free to break up from our organised touring programme at any point but please inform your tour guide beforehand. If you are not looking to join our Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness day trip with us, you would have the entire second day free.
