Cambridge Day Trip
- Fully refundable and amendable up until 7 days before travel
Join us on this fully guided day trip to Cambridge, where we will reveal the history of both the university and the city of Cambridge, a city that dates back to pre-Roman times, making it an older settlement, albeit not an older university, to it's great rival Oxford! This day trip includes return train travel, a walking tour of the sights in Cambridge with a professional guide, entry to Kings College University and free time to explore.
Tour includes:
- Full day professional tour guide
- Return travel from London by train
- Cambridge guided walking tour
- Entry to Kings College, Cambridge
Cambridge is one of the most famous University cities in the world, made up of a group of over 30 individual colleges with medieval buildings of stone, timber and brick, clad in ivy and built around quiet courtyards and cloisters.
The walking tour of this beautiful city will reveal many of its oldest colleges, such as Emanuel, Corpus Christi, Trinity, St John's and also includes entry to the magnificent King's College with its impressive chapel. The city is home to many other colleges that we won't cover in the walking tour, but you can go and explore in your free time, such as Christ's, Jesus and Magdalene.
Other well known sights include the Mathematical Bridge at Queen's College, Senate House - where students graduate, the River Cam - busy with punts and rowing boats, the church of the Holy Sepulchre - the famous round church, one of only four in the country, Parker's Piece and Great St Mary's where you can enter the tower for great views over the University and the low lying meadowland of Cambridgeshire and the Fens.
During your free time in the afternoon there will be time for lunch and a chance to try punting on the river. If you aren't happy to steer yourself, you can hire someone to punt for you! Your guide will be on hand throughout the walking tour to recommend activities and direct you to 'must see' attractions! One other 'must see' is the outstanding Fitzwilliam Museum with free entrance, and historic displays of antiquity over several floors.
